I plan to share some content down the road covering advanced techniques in Handbrake, alongside how to analyze video parameters—like bit depth, color space, and gamma—from various common recording devices. It’s geared toward anyone with a bit too much time on their hands.
My obsession with these questions stems from a singular fixation: finding a way to drastically shrink massive raw footage that I simply cannot bring myself to delete, all while keeping its original parameters intact.
Yet, lossy compression comes with a steep price. While the visual degradation might be imperceptible on the surface, it quickly turns into a disaster once you hit the color-grading stage in post-production. So, unless you are desperately starved for storage space, I wouldn’t recommend wasting your time on this.
